Timeout [message #721] Mon, 19 November 2007 00:27

NoSpamToday is checking Mail with SpamAssassin, I got the most time an timeout and the mail is not marked as spam. Timeout was set to 60sec. The same result when set to 120.

Is it possible to get more infos, why(which Rules) timeout raised or a tip to solve the problem?

Best regards

You shouldn't use timeouts anymore with the SpamAssassin filter.

If auto-expire is enabled, the expire run might start when SpamAssassin filters a message. For this reason, filtering on some systems can occasionally take up to about 5 minutes. Worse, if the DB expiry is interrupted by a timeout, it is restarted from scratch on the next SpamAssassin run again.

It is probably better to disable SpamAssassin's auto-expire feature, and run Bayes DB expiry by hand, or from the Windows task scheduler.

There is some discussion of this topic on the FAQ page, and in the manual.
