I hope someone can explain what is happening here.

When an email is rejected by NoSpamToday! because the email address is not in the accepted list, I still see a connection being made from the NoSpamToday! server to my mail server.

Here is the log from the NoSpamToday! server. I've put *'s in to mask the email address.

May 28, 2009, 13:04:03 Session 5: Connection from 118.69.92.59 accepted on 192.168.200.55:25
May 28, 2009, 13:04:03 Session 5: 220 *.*.local ESMTP Server FTGate

May 28, 2009, 13:04:05 Session 5: Incoming mail action: recipient reject

Here is the log I see on my Mail Server. The NoSpamToday1 server is 192.168.200.55

Incoming SMTP Server connection from [192.168.200.55]
SMTPRX-SND : 220 *.*.local ESMTP Server FTGate
SMTPRX-RCV: EHLO FWXDUPI
SMTPRX-SND : 250-*.*.local
SMTPRX-SND : 250-VRFY
250-EXPN
250-ETRN
250-AUTH CRAM-MD5 LOGIN PLAIN
250 Ready
SMTPRX-RCV: MAIL FROM:
New message created [f0905281304048F23]
SMTPRX-SND : 250 Sender Ok

I'm very surprised to see this as I thought the NoSpamToday! would just ignore the rejected email address.

Thanks for any help.

Mike

No reason to worry.
NoSpamToday works as a transparent SMTP proxy. It connects to your mail server as soon as a connection is coming in. As you can see from your mail server's log, in the case of a rejected recipient address, no data is transferred and the connection will be closed.
