Hi there,

I'm having problems with the spamassassin.exe cpu load spike, each time a mail is incoming spamassassin.exe goes up to 99% cpu load for about 2-4 sec.
I assume when spamassassin is busy filtering the mail.

It's running on a windows 2000 server with exchange 2000 on a HP Compaq ML350 G2, latest nospamtoday version (2.3.5.7). Attachment, delay & SA filters are turned on.

SA is running got 4 plugins atm:
URIDNSBL
HashCash
DNSBF
ImageInfo

Has anyone got a clue what I could do about this? thnx!

That's normal operation for SpamAssassin, that's why SpamAssassin should run last, only when all other filters have passed the message.

Consider upgrading to NoSpamToday! version 3. Version 3 has a dedicated RBL (DNSBL) filter that does a good job at eliminating spams, thus reducing the CPU load caused by SpamAssassin.

SpamAssassin will always use 100% CPU for a few seconds, but SpamAssassin will be called less often if other filters have already removed spam mails.
