Handling YahooGroups messages [message #466] Mon, 12 June 2006 22:28

Looking for a good method to handle yahoogroup messages that are sent to my mailboxes.

Messages come in on behalf of the sender to the yahoogroup. The X-Sender is the person that sent the message to the group, not the yahoogroup address. So doing a whitelist entry for *.yahoogroups.com does not help in this situation.

What is an effective method for allowing all the yahoogroups messages into my domains?

Ken

Add a header rule with a negative score to your local.cf file. Something like this:

header YAHOO_X_SENDER X-Sender =~ /senderaddress/i
describe YAHOO_X_SENDER X-Sender is whitelisted
score YAHOO_X_SENDER -100

If I am understanding this right you are suggesting that I use a filter on the header info to white list based on the X-Sender. However, the X-Sender is different all the time so this would not work. Subject might be better? Are there other items that may be good in the header? I'd like to wild card as well because there are several yahoo groups.

Could I do

header Yahoo_X_Apparently X-Apparently-To = ~/@yahoogroups.com/i
describe Yahoo_X_Apparently X-Apparently-To is whitelisted
score Yahoo_X_Apparently -100

and is that the right syntax to wildcard?

I put a sample header below.
