Newbie setup problem? [message #1751] Tue, 03 July 2007 21:15

I have just installed a trial version of NST on my mailserver - changed the incoming port to 26 and reconfigured my NAT forwarding etc. If I telnet to port 25 from outside I get a "password" request. I have put the accepted domain masks in the filter boxes as *@domain1.com *@domain2.com etc. so would assume that auth-smtp is now not operational?

Test emails are queuing up but showing as "The remote server did not respond to a connection attempt."

Any guidance gratefully received!

Thanks

Colin

SMTP servers do not ask for a password. It is likely you are connected to the telnet service instead.

Do not pass outgoing mail through NST, if possible. Other than that relaying for authenticated sessions should still work.

Make sure both NST and the mail servers are up and running.
