Updating Existing Installations

There is no need to uninstall the previous version. Simply download the latest version, and install it over the existing installation.

Licenses and Keys

• Arctor license keys for version 1 will not work for Arctor version 2.
• Customers upgrading from version 1.x to version 2 will receive a 25% discount.
• Customers who purchased an Arctor version 1 license on July 1, 2006 or later can log into the Customer Service Center to get a free version 2 key.
• The Arctor Standard license is no longer available for purchase, it is replaced by the Freeware license.

Compatibility

• Arctor repositories (archive directories) created with version 1.x are fully compatible with Arctor version 2. To import an archive repository created with version 1.x of Arctor, choose Rule -> Add Existing... from the main menu. In the upcoming dialog, choose version 1 archive as the file type, navigate to the repository, and select the *.arm file you will find there.
• Because of the many new features, Arctor version 1 job files (*.ajf) cannot be converted to Arctor version 2 profiles (*.prof). The *.ajf files are retained in the installation process, so you can use a capable text editor (e.g. textpad) to view your old configuration files for reference.
